Secretary General, Caribbean Telecommunications Union (CTU)
Bernadette Lewis is the Secretary General of the Caribbean Telecommunications Union (CTU), a post she has held since August 2003.
Ms Lewis is the first female appointee to the position and under her stewardship, the CTU has evolved into a vibrant organisation. Under her stewardship, the CTU has conducted ICT outreach and capacity building programs for seniors, parents, the deaf and blind, educators, farmers and fisher-folk and most recently, for girls and boys across the region.
A strong proponent for ICT-enabled Caribbean development, Ms. Lewis has advocated for the effective use of ICTs by all citizens, through various initiatives to raise awareness and educate on the power of ICT to enhance every sphere of endeavor. Ms. Lewis is passionate about ensuring that all citizens of the region have affordable Internet access and are able to benefit from effective use of ICT.
Ms. Lewis’ track record of innovation includes creation of the Caribbean Internet Governance Forum, the Caribbean ICT Roadshow, The Caribbean Spectrum Management Forum, The Caribbean ICT Ministerial Briefing Seminar and the Caribbean Futurescape initiative.
